BBCode is making things BOLD or italicized using a coding system. The coding itself is actually rather simple and fairly basic. When clicking on REPLY on a thread you will be brought to the page where you can post a message. This page has a list of button on the top for bold,italicized, underscore, etc etc ... When you click on any of these you get a code.
EXAMPLE:
If you click on the Bold B you get this code [ b ][\ b ]
You then put your message in between these ][
